Using Events from UFO-B in an Ontology Collaborative Construction Environment
نویسندگان
چکیده
In previous works, it was introduced an approach to support collaborative construction and evolution of domain ontologies based on UFO-A. However, there are areas of knowledge, like in the petroleum geology, where we need to represent some natural/geological phenomena which aren’t possible to be well represented by UFO-A constructs, by the fact that this concepts are treated as events that occur during time. Thus, this paper presents the results of the study to support events from UFO-B in an ontology collaborative construction environment, which initially was designed to maintain a collaboration record from a domain ontology based on UFO-A.

Representing the UFO-B Foundational Ontology of Events in SROIQ
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the application of foundational ontologies, i.e., formal ontological theories in the philosophical sense, to provide a theoretically sound foundation for improving the theory and practice of conceptual modeling and knowledge representation. This paper addresses one particular foundational theory of events termed UFO-B, which has been success...
متن کاملMenthor Editor: An Ontology-Driven Conceptual Modeling Platform
The lack of well-founded constructs in ontology tools can lead to the construction of non-intended models. In this demonstration we present the Menthor Editor, an ontology-driven conceptual modelling platform which incorporates the theories of the Unified Foundational Ontology (UFO). We illustrate how UFO categories can improve the design of domain ontologies. Moreover, the verification and val...
متن کاملTowards ontological foundations for conceptual modeling: The unified foundational ontology (UFO) story
This paper describes a long-term research program on developing ontological foundations for conceptual modeling. This program, organized around the theoretical background of the foundational ontology UFO (Unified Foundational Ontology), aims at developing theories, methodologies and engineering tools with the goal of advancing conceptual modeling as a theoretically sound discipline but also one...

متن کاملDeveloping a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
